Step outside the door in light garments. Take a deep breath of cool morning mountain air. Close your eyes and enjoy the power of the sun, that is squinting over the peaks and boldly conquers the valley. Walk barefooted through a field still wet with dew. Sit in the shadow of an old tree and smell the meadow flowers in the summer warmth. Blue mountain lakes gleam through green pine forests. Summer in the Gränobel chalets – happiness, small and quiet. The Tannheimer Tal offers a great variety of sporting activities in fresh air. In the summer you will find 300 kilometers of marked paths including the three-lake tour which is one of the most beautiful walking routes in Austria, a diverse and large mountainbike network of 150 kilometers, and also diverse nordic walking and jogging routes. A special highlight in the region is the nature reserve Vilsalpsee with 16 square kilometers nature and bird sanctuaries, and additionally the 400 meter high Bergaicht waterfall. On top of all that, you have the possibility of climbing, paragliding, hanggliding, ballooning, horseback riding, fishing, golfing, observing wild animals in nature or simply enjoy the delightful scenery. For the young guests, there is a choice of a playground in Grän, climbing hall that includes a childrens paradise and the water world with slides at the Haldensee.

On numerous occasions the Tannheimer Tal has been chosen as Austria's most popular hiking region. Many hiking paths, including a section of the St. James way, invite guests to explore the region. Especially interesting for families are the theme trails, such as the Schmugglersteig in Schattwald, the Erlebnisweg in Tannheim, the Vater-Unser-Weg in Grän, the Gamskopf with Panorama-Informator in Grän, the Sonnenpanoramahut in Grän, the Geo-Pfad in Grän-Pfronten and the Buchstabenweg in Jungholz. Whether it is pleasant family excursions through the valley, relaxed tours with an e-bike, ambitious mountain biking or racing bike tours, Europe’s most beautiful high valley, at a height of 1.100 meters, leaves nothing to be desired. Especially recommended are tours to the Vilsalpsee or the “cycle path Tannheimer Tal” that connects the most beautiful parts of the Tyrolean high valley in stages.

For demanding bikers, there are 15 bike routes with a total of 150 kilometers, which were opened and uniformly signposted by the state of Tyrol. Furthermore, the Tannheimer Tal is the starting point for the newly developed route "Bike Trail Tyrol". This big circular tour with over 800 kilometers, in addition to the many connecting stages with a further 500 kilometers, are designed so that bikers can create their own personal routes. The bathing lakes in the Tannheimer Tal with their spectacular mountain view offer a perfect way of regenerating after a strenuous mountain climb or cycle tour. Furthermore sporting activities such as surfing or rowing are possible as well. The Vilsalpsee, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful mountains seas in Tyrol, lies in the middle of a nature reserve and is ideal for a lazy day of swimming.

There are numerous fixed-rope climbing routes throughout the Tannheimer Tal, all with various levels of difficulty. For example, it is possible to climb from Oberjoch into the two-track Salewa fixed-rope climbing route. After exiting this route it is possible to hike back to Schattwald. Especially recommended are the Friedberger fixed-rope climbing route between the Rote Flüh and Läuferspitze, the fixed-rope climbing route Lachenspitze Nordwand and the fixed-rope climbing route Südsporn onto the Köllenspitze. Beneath the famous climbing mountains Rote Flüh and Gimpel, close to the village of Nesselwängle and situated in a beautiful woodland with numerous huge boulders, is also a climbing forest. Seven obstacle courses and the large flying-fox obstacle course having a 100 meter and a 120 meter long zip-line, offer a real thrill in one of the most beautiful high valleys of Europe.

You will find a large number of beautifully located golf courses within a 70 km radius, for example the golf course Sonnenalp in Ofterschwang (35 km), the golf course Oberallgäu in Bolsterlang (37 km), the golf course Auf der Gsteig in Lechbruck (46 km), the Golfclub Hellengerst (58 km), the Golfclub Tiroler Zugspitze in Ehrwald (43 km) and the Allgäuer Golf- and Landclub in Ottobeuren (72 km).
